How to Turn Up Transmit Power on 222 MHz on a VX-7R

Vertex Standard's Yaesu VX-7R is a fully submersible tri-band amateur handheld. The device is rated for 30 minutes of submersion at a depth of 3-feet. The radio provides five watts of power on the 50, 144 and 430 MHz ham bands, and the US version also includes up to 300 mW on the 222 MHz band. Four power levels are available on 50/144/430 MHz at 5W, 2.5W, 1W and 0.05W; 50 MHZ is fixed at 1W and 222 MHz can be set at 0.3W or 0.05W. The exact power output varies slightly depending on battery charge.

Instructions

Set the 222 MHz band by pressing the "Band" key repeatedly until it appears on the display.

If you are on the 222 MHz band "L1" or "L2" will show. L1 is 0.05W and L2 is 0.3W.
