Supported Frequencies
The FT-212RH operates over the 2 meter band, which covers 144 to 148 megahertz. It has a switchable channel width of 5, 10, 12.5, 20 or 25 kilohertz, giving it the potential to support up to 800 five-kilohertz-wide channels. It has a 600 kilohertz repeater shift and transmits according to the G3E modulation standard.
Receiver &Transmitter Specifications
The FT-212RH's receiver has a double-conversion superheterodyne construction, and achieves an image ratio of better than 65 decibels. It is sensitive, picking up signals as small as 1/4 microvolt, and has a powerful audio output that generates as much as 1.5 watts into a standard 8 ohm speaker, albeit at 5 percent total harmonic distortion. The transmitter generates either 5 or 45 watts of power while also managing to transmit signals that are at least 65 decibels above the noise floor. It also transmits within 5 kilohertz of its selected frequency.
Connections
On its front panel, the FT-212RH features an eight pin connection for its push-to-talk microphone. Its back panel contains a few cable connections. The first is a dual pigtail with positive and negative connections that accepts a 13.8 volt DC input with at least 10 amperes of current. It also features a standard stereo phone jack for connection of an external speaker. Finally, the FT-212RH has a jack with a type-m coaxial socket for an antenna with a nominal impedance of 50 ohms.
General Specifications
While the FT-212RH requires a 10 input, it only draws the full power when transmitting at its full power. It consumes just 300 milliamps when in its standby functions. Its case measures 5.51 inches wide, 1.57 inches tall and 6.30 inches deep. It weighs 2.76 lbs.
