The Heil HM-10 has specifications of both the HC-4 and HC-5 microphones. These were developed in 1983 and use voice coil bobbins wound with copper. The HC-4 element has the -3dB points set at -600Hz and 6,000Hz, and the peak tuning is at +10dB, centered at 2,000Hz. The HC-5 element has its -3dB points set at 300Hz and 5,000Hz. The tuned peak on the HC-5 is +6dB, centered at 2,000Hz. These elements are both designed for talking within one to two inches from them and have an impedance of 1,000 ohms at 1 kHz. The HC-4 has a sensitivity of -66dB, while the HC-5's sensitivity is -68dB.
Buttons
The microphone features two main buttons for its operation. The "Wide/Narrow" switch, located beneath the word "Heil" on the front of the microphone. The unit also has a Heil Sound "Light Touch" push-to-talk (PTT) button, which can be found directly underneath the "Wide/Narrow" selector switch.
Connections and Accessories
The Heil HM-10 Dual has a four-pin XLR connection built in and is usually supplied with a microphone clip and foam wind screen. Different accessories can be bought that are compatible with the unit. The CC-1 series Heilwire cable is required to connect the unit to most transceivers and converts the four-pin XLR cable to an 8-pin Mic plug. You can also purchase the SM-1 Shock Mount to prevent vibrations from nearby appliances from being pickup up by the unit and the SB-2 Short Boom for mounting the microphone.
