Strip 3 1/16 inches of the outer plastic sheath from one end of the coaxial cable, without cutting through the inner braided sheath. Pull the braided sheath back and down over the cable. The plastic insulation can remain on the inner copper wire.
Stretch the braided sheath down over the cable 3 1/16 inches, and tape the braided sheath to the cable. The braided sheath and the inner copper wire should be the same length, extending in opposite directions.
Crimp a connector to the opposite end of the cable appropriate for your radio receiver's external antenna jack. Plug the antenna into your receiver.
