How Do I Program My Kenwood Radio?

Kenwood, along with Vertex Standard's brand Yaesu, are two of the leading manufacturers of amateur radios. The most common compact transceiver/receivers Kenwood makes are the tri-band TH-F6A and dual-band TH-F7E. Both are suitable for any technician-licensed ham operator, whether you have just passed your test or are an old pro.

Instructions

    • 1

      Press the button marked "VFO."

    • 2

Turn the tuning control knob or press the up or down arrow buttons to select your frequency. Alternatively, enter the frequency directly on the keypad. Select the offset direction, tone function and CTCSS/DCS function, if you use one.

    • 3

Press "F" and look for a memory number to appear blinking on the display. The small sideways hat-like icon is empty when indicating the current channel is empty. The icon is full (solid) if the channel is programmed with a frequency.

    • 4

Turn the tuning control knob to select the memory channel that you want to program the frequency to.

    • 5

Press "MR" to program the frequency to the channel. The Kenwood radio is now programmed with that frequency. Simply select the channel you programmed to use the frequency.
