How to Install Bachmann HO DD40AX Sound

A Bachmann scale-model locomotive engine can feature additional functions besides the expected gears and wheels for movement on a track. To hear the digital sound put out by the Bachmann model DD40AX, you must install the necessary components so that the engine can communicate with the electronics built into the train controller. The procedure is straightforward and does not require any disassembly.

  Place the Bachmann HO DD40AX engine next to the controller by the track. Plug the controller's power cord into an outlet.

  Place the Bachmann HO DD40AX engine on the track. Plug the addressable plug attached to the engine into the controller's addressable "Input" socket. Turn the controller's power switch to the "On" position.

  Press the addressable button on the side of the engine. Press one of the addressable buttons on the controller to sync the two together. Remove the addressable plug from the controller's socket.
