How to Assemble a Thomas Engine Gear

The Thomas the Tank Engine toy uses a set of gears to rotate the tires when the toy is turned on. Since the toy is designed for small children, it is made to take some abuse but, after a while, the abuse pushes the gears out of place. These gears can be reinserted into their correct position by opening the toy up.

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Needle-nose pliers

Instructions

    • 1

      Remove the screw on the base of the train. Depending on the model, there may be two screws.

      Unscrew the screws holding the wheels in place.

    • 3

      Pull the base off the bottom of the train. Gently grab the top of the train and pull it from the bottom section.

      Place the tip of the needle-nose pliers around the round, metal gear. Slide it back into the area that is the shape of the gear.

    • 5

      Reattach the wheels and the rest of the train.
