How to Switch a K Line Remote Wire

K-Line switches are used for altering the track junction layout in a Lionel model railroad system. The switches themselves operate in a two-pole configuration, with a multiple output lead from the switch bar leading to the individual junctions. Making these switches is a matter of following the wiring protocol of a K-Line setup, minimizing the frequency of accidental derailments.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Strip one-fourth of an inch of insulation from the end of the wire leading from the fixed-voltage transformer. Loosen the jumper bar from the post on the right. Swivel it up to the left.

    • 2

Push down the binding post on the fixed-voltage tap. Slide the wire into the tap and release the post to secure the wire.

    • 3

Strip one-fourth of an inch from each wire leading to the output binding post taps. Start by inserting the wire with the dashed indicators on the outer jacket into the matching post. Repeat for the other two wires as indicated. Plug in the transformer.

    • 4

Manipulate the junctions and lights by moving the lever on the controller forward and back as required.
