How to Hook Up a Lionel SC-1 to Switches

The Lionel SC-1 accessory controller is the predecessor to the newer SC-2 accessory controller now offered by Lionel. The unit has the same functionality, but utilizes different connectors not as easy to use as the connectors on the SC-2 model. In addition, take care to avoid stripping wires back too far and shorting out the accessories attached to the system. The SC-1 provides enough space to run four Lionel switch accessories and two animated accessories.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the track power line from your Lionel power box to the screws marked "Track Power" on the SC-1 unit.

    • 2

Separate the wires to the individual accessories you want to use with the remote controller. There is room for four individual switch track accessories on the board of the SC-1 unit. These accessories connect to the screws on the left of the panel.

    • 3

Loosen the screws on the face of the SC-1 unit. If your accessories utilize round connectors, remove the screws. If they are forked connectors, do not remove the screws.

    • 4

Insert the wires for the switch or the accessories under the appropriate screw connector on the SC-1 unit. Tighten the screw with a screwdriver. The wires on the switches for Lionel trains are numbered "1," "2" and "3." On the control unit, the top screw is "1," the middle screw is "2" and the bottom screw is "3."
