How to Troubleshoot the Lionel 6-28687

The Lionel company specializes in making model railways which use electricity to power the trains around the track. Throughout the range of products and plethora or different model numbers, there are common issues which can occur and will feasibly need to be fixed. If you are aware of issues, such as lack of power, dirty pickups and engine lubrication, it is possible to keep your train very much on track.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that the model railway is properly configured to work. This means the transformer must be plugged into an active power source and none of the wires are frayed or loose. Damaged wires should be replaced.

    • 2

Troubleshoot stuttering movements of the model train and sudden stops by visually inspecting the track. You are looking for accumulated dirt, dust and soil on the track. Clean the track and also clean any pickups which look dirty. If pickups are damaged, you may have to replace that part of the track.

Lubricate the model train engine to keep the unit running smoothly. Use a pin to dab some oil within the mechanisms. To the same end, clean the engine if the engine wheels run very slowly or overheat.
