How to Change an Address on a Marklin 6021

The Marklin 6021 control unit can operate up to 80 different locomotives on your track system. The 6021 controls each locomotive individually through an address code configuration that you enter in the controller. You need to determine the address code of each locomotive before you can change the address you are using on the Marklin 6021. Once you know the addresses you can operate all of the trains on your track system.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the locomotive housing to access the eight programming DIP switches inside the locomotive. Write down the numbers of the switches which are placed in the "On" position.

    • 2

Refer to the address code table in the Marklin 6021 instruction manual to determine the address of your locomotive, based on the code switch number found in Step 1. For example, if the 2, 3, 5 and 7 switches are in the "On" position in your locomotive, the address is 01. You will also find a link to the address table in the Resources section.

    • 3

Plug the transformer into a power outlet to power on the Marklin 6021. The LCD display will read "99" for a few seconds and the light over the "L" will turn on.

    • 4

Press the buttons corresponding to the number of the address you found in Step 2 to control that locomotive.

    • 5

Change the address to operate a different locomotive by entering the address of the second locomotive using the number pad.
