What Is a Talgo Coupler?

The Talgo coupler is a type of connection used to join together two model railroad cars. Talgo couplers connect trains on the wheel mountings, which are referred to as the truck. They are generally stable connectors, except in reverse and on sharp curves.

Talgo Truck Insulated Coupler
- This model is similar to a traditional hook-and-eye coupler between carriage bodies, except that it is mounted on the undercarriage wheels and is magnetized to help keep the trains joined together. It is 9/32 inch and can be adapted for body mounting if need be.
andKadee HO Scale Couplers
- TheTalgo coupler is 19/64 inch and theis 25/64 inch; both are made of strong plastic with a metal hook that is magnetized for a better join between train trucks.
Kadee Talgo 30 and 40 Series Couplers
- Kadee Talgo couplers are organized in a series. The 30 and 40 series Talgo couplers are more expensive because they use less plastic and more metal for increased durability. The size will be the same for each equivalent number, that is, the, 38 and 48 couplers will all be 19/64 inch and the, 39 and 49 Talgo couplers will all be 25/64 inch. Only the materials that comprise the coupler will differ.
