Walthers Decal Paper Instructions

Walthers decal paper is a product commonly used by railroad model hobbyists. This paper can be used to create decals for buildings, trains and any other model item. Preprinted decals are available as well as blank paper for hobbyists to create their own decals. Use only an inkjet printer when printing your own decals; other printer inks will smear.

  • Liquid decal film
  • Fine paintbrush
  • Scissors

Instructions

      Print the chosen graphic on the Walthers decal paper using an inkjet printer. Set the decal aside to dry for 24 to 48 hours. The ink should be completely dry before proceeding. Apply a coat of liquid decal film to the decal with the paintbrush. Allow the liquid film to dry overnight and then apply a second coat.

      Cut out the decal with scissors. Soak the decal in water.

      Apply the decal to the model with microset glue. Gently brush out any air bubbles or pierce them with a pin and smooth the decal with the edge of the brush. Allow the glue to dry overnight. Apply a final coat of liquid decal film.
