G Scale Train Shows in Texas

Model trains evoke memories of simpler times and stir the imagination. Children watching them fantasize about what lies beyond the next bend and adults remember the joy their own models brought. Model trains are a hobby that continues to grow, and exhibitors often display a variety of sizes, including G Scale models, at shows around the state of Texas.
  1. Annual Alamo Model Railroad Engineers Train Show--San Antonio

    • The Annual Alamo Model Railroad Engineers Train Show is a San Antonio tradition. First started in 1988, it takes place every year in the fall. When you visit this exhibition, you may see sizes as small as the Z scale up to the HO, O, ON30 and G scales. You can also purchase new or used train models and accessories from vendors to help build your collection. According to organizer Gene Turner, if you purchase a ticket for both days of the show, you receive a free pass to the Texas Transportation Museum. The Texas Transportation Museum has a number of railroad and vehicle displays, including a 3,700-foot full-size railroad track consisting of a relocated antique depot, two steam engines, passenger cars and two diesels.
