How to Reassemble a Glock

Glock pistols are ugly, efficient little handguns that--while they won't be winning a beauty contest anytime soon--are popular the world over for their reputation for reliability and durability. Of course, even the best handgun in the world needs to be broken down for cleaning or parts replacement every now and again, and as is usually the case, putting the Glock pistol back together is a little more difficult than breaking it down was. Fortunately, Glock has worked hard to make their pistols simple in design and construction, and re-assembling a Glock is still a fairly uncomplicated process.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the slide over so that you are looking into the bottom, then place the barrel into the front portion of the slide and push it forward until it stops moving.

    • 2

Compress the recoil spring assembly and place it in the slide immediately to the rear of the barrel. Press the spring assembly down firmly, then release the tension on the spring so that it expands to fill its section of the slide.

    • 3

Turn the slide over and place it on the rails on top of the Glock's frame. The slide should be placed at the very front of the frame.

    • 4

Push the slide back on the rails until it clicks into place.

    • 5

Rack the slide back once and dry-fire it--make sure that the pistol is unloaded before you do this--to make sure that all the pieces work properly.
