Things You'll Need
Instructions
Design your website if you haven't already. It will be much easier to create your banners if your site already his a design with a specific font, colors, a logo or other identifying designs. It will be more professional if your banners match your website, and it will be much easier to create your banners once you have a website layout.
Open a graphic editing program and create a new file. Type in the dimensions that you wish your banner to be in the boxes for width and height by pixels. Most banners for blogs are 125-by-125 pixels so that they fit easily on sidebars. See Resource 1 to see an example of the different sizes for website banners.
Load your website's original header into the graphic editing program. You can also press the "Print screen" button on your keyboard to take a screen capture of your website so you can use other elements of the design. Copy and paste these designs onto the new file you created. Resize the design so that it fits on the smaller file and move things around until you are satisfied. Save the file and include the dimensions in the file name (example: banner125x125) with file extension .jpg, .png or .gif.
