Instructions

  1. Preparing the Locomotive

    • 1

Remove the shell of your locomotive and any clear components, such as windows and headlights.

    • 2

Place the shell in a shallow glass dish.

    • 3

Put on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands and a surgical mask to prevent inhalation of fumes from the oven cleaner.

    • 4

Spray the end of a cotton swab with oven cleaner and wipe a small area inside the shell to test the effectiveness of the oven cleaner. The paint should appear to smudge or release from the locomotive. If this occurs, you should be ready to strip the entire shell.

    • 5

Spray the shell, liberally, with oven cleaner. Allow to set overnight, in a safe place out of reach of children and pets.

    Removing Paint

    • 6

Remove the model locomotive shell from the dish and run it under warm water.

    • 7

Brush the shell with a nylon bristled toothbrush to aid in paint removal.

    • 8

Repeat the entire process, if necessary, to remove any stubborn, residual paint.

    • 9

Your model locomotive shell is now ready to re-paint. Once dry, replace the clear components and affix the shell back onto the base.
