How to Build an Antique Tractor Pulling Engine

Tractor pulling is when tractors or trucks are designed to transport heavy loads. Pulling tractors often have modified engines to allow the tractor to bear the weight. Tractor pulling has also become a popular sport, where these modified or custom-built tractors pull heavy weights in a competition. The winner is determined by who was able to transport the weight the farthest, rather than by speed or time. If you have an antique tractor, you can build or modify your tractor's engine so it has more horsepower to participate in tractor pulling.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the antique tractor is turned off.

    • 2

Take both exhaust headers off the antique tractor's engine.

    • 3

Place turbo headers where the exhaust headers would be. This will add horsepower to allow your antique tractor to function like a newer model.

    • 4

Remove all the pieces from the exhaust hangers and flanges in the engine. Install a 4-inch diameter exhaust in their place.

    • 5

Take off the rear axle suspension.

    • 6

Take all the shocks and springs off, and replace them with ladder bars. This will attach the rear axle to the truck's frame rail.

    • 7

Remove the cap from the adjustment screw on the fuel engine.

    • 8

Turn the screw clockwise using a screwdriver. This will increase the amount of fuel to your pump.

    • 9

Turn on your antique tractor to ensure the new engine is running properly.
