How to Make a Wooden Putter

Simple wooden putters, also called "mallets," are used in the game of croquet for hitting the ball and directing it through the hoops, also known as "wickets." The weight of the putter affects the amount of force you can exert upon the wooden or plastic balls. Creating several putters for different applications makes it possible to successfully navigate any croquet course. Choose a larger block of wood for the putter head if you want to create a putter that exerts more force on the ball. Use smaller blocks for more precise and gentle putting.

Things You'll Need

  • Cylindrical wood block, 7 inches long, 4 inches in diameter
  • 1/2-inch drill
