How to Troubleshoot a JR-RS310

The JR-RS310 receiver from JR Radios is mounted on RC vehicles and receives transmissions from the wireless controller used to operate the vehicle. You may experience problems with the receiver that prevent you from operating the vehicle as you want. Problems with the JR-RS310 often are caused by how the receiver is mounted on the vehicle or with how the receiver's channel is set. You can fix most problems by making small adjustments to the receiver's mount and settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect a battery pack that supplies a maximum of 6.0 volts of power to the JR-RS310 receiver. Make sure the wire is secure in the jack on the front of the receiver. Using a battery pack that supplies more voltage can damage the receiver.

    • 2

Mount the supplied battery box on the RC vehicle and connect it to the JR-RS310 if you are using a mechanical speed control, in order to supply power to the receiver. The battery box holds two AA batteries and plugs into the jack on the front of the receiver.

    • 3

Install the JR-RS310 as far away as possible from the motor, speed control and battery. The receiver may pick up electrical noise if it is too close to these components. Noise can cause problems when attempting to operate your RC vehicle.

    • 4

Mount the receiver antenna so that it is away from any graphite on your vehicle, to prevent reception problems. You should run the antenna wire up a plastic tube.

    • 5

Straighten the antenna wire so that all twists and coils are removed. You may limit your reception if it is coiled or bundled.

    • 6

Turn on the transmitter and then the JR-RS310 when planning to operate the vehicle, to ensure the receiver has a signal and prevent it from running out of control. When you are finished operating the vehicle, turn off the JR-RS310 first, and then the transmitter.

    • 7

Change the channel on the JR-RS310 so that it matches the channel used by the transmitter. To change the channel, place the supplied tuning screwdriver in the left rotary switch on the front of the receiver and turn it to the first part of the number. For example, if you want to use channel 63, turn the left rotary switch to "6." Enter the second number in the right rotary dial.
