Things You'll Need
Instructions
Set the manual and the radio down on a flat work surface. Open the manual to the page that shows a labeled diagram of the radio. Use this diagram to familiarize yourself with the physical parts of your IC F-100 radio. IC F-100 radios are designed with a small number of control buttons. These radios also have a LCD display screen offering an alphanumeric selection.
Experiment with different settings on your particular model. This helps you familiarize yourself with how your radio works.
Study the programming options for your radio. Determine what you want your radio to do and make your selection of programming from your options. For example, program an IC F-100 radio to do a scan when you hook the microphone into its spot on the radio. Program an ICOM radio to the frequencies you will be using. The CD includes two programming options: changing your personal data and creating a password.
Program your radio. Field-test the programming you added: select several physical locations and test your radio in each location.
