Instructions for the Kodachrome Adapter-A

In the old-school world of film photography, you used different types of film for different looks to your finished photographs. Kodak made an especially popular film known as Kodachrome Film Type A, which was primarily meant for use indoors with floodlights. If you wanted to use Type A film outdoors, your photos would have a bluish tint to them. Add a Kodachrome Adapter-A filter to your camera and you won't have these problems. The color will even out and once more look true to life, with warmer hues and no blue tinting.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the lens on your camera with a soft cloth. Any dust on the lens will be trapped between it and the Kodachrome Adapter-A filter, so remove dust beforehand to prevent problems with your pictures.

    • 2

Place the filter over the lens. Position the ring over the filter and screw it onto the outside of the lens housing, trapping the filter between the ring and the lens glass. Turn the ring until it is snug, but not tight, to facilitate easier removal.

    • 3

Take outdoor photographs normally with your camera, but bracket the shots until you are sure of the effect the filter has with the film. Bracketing is the process of shooting one picture slightly lighter than normal, one at the normal setting and one slightly darker than normal. With bracketing, you are sure to get the shot even if the filter changes how you would normally use the camera.
