How to do the Coin in a Sugar Packet Trick

A magician pours out the contents of a sugar packet, magically revealing a coin. How did he do it? This trick uses a combination of sleight of hand and careful preparation. There are many ways to perform this trick, some requiring more sleight of hand skills than others.   • Half a dozen packets of sugar

Instructions

      Tap the sugar packets until the edges separate. You may have to tap them on a flat surface hundreds of times. In addition, it may take practice to learn how to separate the edges of the packets so that they don't tear.

      Prepare enough sugar packets with coins so that it can fill a full sugar caddy. Seal the packets with a small glue stick. Bring the sugar with you in your jacket pocket.

      Switch sugar packets at the table for the ones containing coins. Be careful to do this when the audience or others at the table are not aware.

      Borrow a quarter from one of the members of the audience. Press the coin against the sugar packet and make it appear to magically meld together.

      Slip the coin into a sleeve or drop it into your shoe.

      Tear open the sugar packet dramatically, revealing the coin inside the pile of sugar.
