Instructions

    • 1

Place a newspaper on a table. Place the plastic box on the newspaper. Spray the inside of the box with nonstick cooking spray.

    • 2

Place the object that will be duplicated with the mold on the newspaper against a side of the box. Make a dot on the box 1 inch above the height of the object.

    • 3

Pour 5 ounces of tap water into the measuring cup. Add 4 ounces of the alginate plastic solution to the cup. Stir the mixture inside the cup with a wooden stir stick for 20 seconds.

    • 4

Pour the mixture from the cup into the plastic box. Push the object into the mixture until it is completely covered. Leave the box undisturbed for eight to nine hours.

    • 5

Score around the top of the hardened mixture where the object was inserted with a utility knife. Continue to score around the top until you can pull a section of the hardened mixture off.

    • 6

Grip the exposed end of the object with needle-nose pliers. Pull the object out of the hardened mixture.

    • 7

Put on the protective gloves and respirator mask. Pour 3 ounces of the ̶0;A̶1; liquid plastic into the measuring cup. Add 3 ounces of the ̶0;B̶1; liquid plastic into the cup. Stir the mixture inside the cup with a wooden stir stick for three seconds.

    • 8

Pour the mixed liquid plastic into the hole in the box until the level is even with the top. Let the liquid plastic set for four hours.

    • 9

Upend the plastic box and shake the alginate out onto the newspaper. Break the alginate apart to reveal a plastic copy of the object you have made for your dollhouse.
