How to Weld Up a Tracker Rear End

Repair your tracker rear end from various types of damages by welding broken metal pieces back together. Tracker rear ends can become damaged from pulling heavy loads over time or from other vehicles and equipment hitting them. When welding industrial equipment like this, it is important to understand the process of welding better than a novice. It also is important to choose the right type of welder. MIG welders are not adequate for welding industrial equipment and gas welders can triple the time spent when compared to an ARC welder.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the metal on your tracker that you are going to weld with your grinder until the surfaces show bare metal. Clean metal will ensure that the weld you make will be strong. Rust, dirt and other particles prevent a strong weld.

    • 2

Position the pieces that need to be welded against each other. You may need your floor jack for this if you are trying to reposition the frame on the tracker.

    • 3

Weld the pieces on the tracker together using your 6013 welding rod. Hit the slag off the finished weld using your hammer. The bead that you ran in your weld will be exposed after this.
