Things You'll Need
Instructions
Organize all of the components contained in the dip meter kit. Verify that you have all of the pieces that are indicated with the schematic provided with the dip meter kit.
Assemble the components required of the detector circuit board and the oscillator circuit board. Align the transistor-location tab with the location-tab outline that is on the detector circuit board.
Remove the coating that is on the leads of each component. Solder the components onto the foil on the detector circuit board with the soldering iron. Cut any excess metal on the leads with the wire cutters.
Solder the components onto the oscillator circuit board. Put together the casing of the dip meter.
Remove 1/4 of an inch of insulation from the electrical wires with the wire strippers. Twist together the ends of the wires and secure with solder.
Attach one end of the wire to the lugs on the casing, as indicated in the dip meter schematic. Attach the other end of the wire to the component on the circuit board, such as the dial knob or connector used for the battery.
Connect the phone jack to the casing. Locate the coil socket on the bottom panel of the casing. Position the top panel on the bottom panel. Slide the two panels together. Make sure the wires that are along the seam do not get caught on one of the panels.
Connect the coil and the battery to the detector circuit board. Power on the device to make sure that the device turns on. Take the coil and battery out of the casing and attach the oscillator circuit board.
Place the side panels on the casing and reinstall the battery. Secure both the side panels onto the top and bottom panels.
