Instructions
Bisect your extension cord. Separate the two wires from one another on the male part of the cord, stripping half an inch back of both wires. Repeat this with the other half of the cut cord. Put the stripped ends inside an electronics project box that can hold it along with the rest of your wires. This is a metallic box designed to house and protect your wiring projects, much like a power brick in a manufactured adapter.
Use your soldering iron to affix the male wires into the main transformer winding, followed by soldering the bridge rectifier onto the other winding of the transformer. To determine which is which, the primary winding is on your left when you are facing the transformer's front side.
The rectifier has four marked terminals, so you can determine which are AC and which are DC. Solder your two male wires to the two marked "AC." Soldier the two female wires to the two terminals marked "DC." Apply hot glue afterward to cover and protect both connections.
Close the project box to complete your project.
