How to Make a Whip That Will Support 90 Pounds

A whip is a weapon that never runs out of power as long as a person has the strength to wield it. You can make a whip that will be able to support up to 90 pounds by using steel cable instead of rope in its construction. The procedure is straightforward and requires both supplies and tools from a hardware store.

Things You'll Need

  • Flexible aluminum rod, 6-feet long, 2-inch diameter
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Steel-wire spool
  • Bonding glue
  • Wire cutter
  • Handsaw
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Leather strip, 2 feet long, 2 inches wide
  • Fabric glue

Instructions

    • 1

Place the flexible aluminum rod horizontally on a table. Measure eight inches in from the right end and make a dot on the rod with a pencil.

    • 2

Wind an end of one of the steel cables three times around the dot on the rod. Apply bonding glue over the wire where it meets the dot. Let the glue set for three hours. Rotate the rod 180 degrees and reapply the bonding glue. Let the glue set for three hours.

    • 3

Wind the steel wire around the rod while moving toward its left end. Stop winding the wire when you reach the left end. Wind the wire three times around the left end of the rod. Cut the wire free from the wire spool.

    • 4

Wind the end of another steel wire around the rod at the dot. Apply bonding glue to the wire in the same manner as was done before. Wind the wire around the rod in the same manner as was done before. Repeat this procedure eight more times with eight more steel wires.

    • 5

Separate the steel wires from the rod where they have been glued. Cut through the rod with the handsaw. Pull the rod̵7;s left end to separate it from the wires. Keep pulling until the rod is free of the wires. Dispose of the rod in the trash.

    • 6

Wind the ends of the wires together using a needle-nose pliers. Crimp the wires against each other along their length until you reach the rod at the right side with the needle-nose pliers.

    • 7

Wrap the leather strip around the metal rod. Apply fabric glue to the end of the strip and hold it against the leather that is already wrapped around the rod. Release the strip after two minutes have passed. Let the glue set overnight before using your whip.
