Turn off the radio̵7;s power. Remove the power lead connected to the side of the radio.
Unscrew the covers of the radio, and remove any knobs or faceplates.
Unscrew the CPU board -- the large circuit board in the center of the radio. Turn the radio over so that the back side faces up. Rotate the board so that the CPU is on the top side of the radio.
Count five pins up from the bottom-right side of the CPU. Solder the end of the top E-chip wire to the fifth CPU pin.
Solder the end of the middle wire to the 220-capacitor negative side, located in the bottom-center of the circuit board.
Solder the bottom wire to the left side of the green cylinder, at the bottom edge of the circuit board.
Replace all knobs, faceplates and covers. The E-chip plate will not fit inside all radios, and may have to stick out from the bottom. However, if you can get it to fit inside the circuit board, try to do so.
Set the radio to ̶0;CB̶1; mode, and press the ̶0;program̶1; button, then the ̶0;split̶1; button. Enter 6.965 into the radio, and press ̶0;enter.̶1; Press the ̶0;split̶1; button again. Press the ̶0;manual̶1; button, and move the setting to ̶0;ch1̶1; to set the unit to CB mode. Press the ̶0;manual̶1; button again to save the data, then press the ̶0;split̶1; button to transmit in CB mode.
