How to Build for an Archer

A project that an archer may need is a target that he can use to practice with his bow. A target allows an archer to perfect accuracy and trajectory over various distances. You can build a target for an archer from wood to create a frame. Polystyrene foam can be used to absorb the impact of an arrow, which will allow the target to be used again and again.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure a piece of 1-inch by 3-inch board to 24 inches with the tape measure and put a cut mark on the board with the pencil. Cut the 1-by-3 board with the circular saw. Repeat this step to cut a second board with a length of 24 inches.

    • 2

Measure and cut two 1-inch by 3-inch boards with a length of 22 inches.

    • 3

Measure a scrap piece of 1/2-inch plywood to 24 inches square with the tape measure. Cut the plywood with the circular saw.

    • 4

Place the two 22-inch boards and the two 24-inch boards together to form a square. Drill pilot holes for screws at the corners where the two boards meet. Drive screws into the boards with the power drill.

    • 5

Apply a bead of glue along the edges of the 1-inch by 3-inch wood square. Place the 1/2-inch cut piece of plywood on top. Secure the plywood to the 1-inch by 3-inch boards with the finish nails using a nail gun.

Measure the polystyrene foam sheet to 24 inches square. Cut the polystyrene foam sheet with a drywall saw. Repeat this step to cut a second 24-inch square piece. Place the two cut pieces of polystyrene foam into the box frame for the target.

Drill 1/2-inch holes into the top of the target and secure two eye hooks with the pliers. This allows you to suspend the target in the air.
