Things You'll Need
Instructions
Purchase supplies at a hardware store and organize your work area. Determine the length of your sluice box by considering where you will use it, how you will transport it, and how portable it will need to be. Purchase a 3- to 6-inch-diameter segment of corrugated drain pipe and a 2x4 wooden board measuring the desired length of your sluice box, typically 4 feet. 1 1/2 inch wood screws are needed.
Cut the drain pipe in half lengthwise along the seams using a sharp knife and separate the pieces.
Cut one piece of the drain pipe to your desired length.
Cut the 2x4 board to mirror the length of the drain pipe.
Match one piece of the cut drain pipe to the 2x4 board with the curved side against the wood, the cut side up. Centering the pipe on the board, start approximately 1/2 inch from the top at the first riffle and drill a pilot hole to secure the pipe to the board with a screw. Continue this process every 6 inches until the pipe is securely attached.
Cut strap material into 4 equal lengths, 10 inches or longer and attach to either side and both ends of the 2x4 wood with screws.
