Purpose
The input RC standardizer connects a resistor-capacitor circuit with a BNC input connector. The standardizer changes the frequency of the RC circuit so that it can transmit through coaxial cables. This broadens the use of mechanical items that can be used with coaxial cables in the video, audio and avionics. The RC standardizer also is use in testing circuits and connections.
Use
The standardizer connects directly between the BNC connector and the RC circuit cable. The standardizer acts as a translator between the two signal circuits. This helps connect different kinds of cables together, and more often, different wavelengths of coaxial cables. The input RC standardizer also can be used with other input devices.
Benefits
There are several benefits that the standardizer provides. The signal transmission is clearer and more effective. The device allows the connection of multiple cable types, which is a benefit in many different areas, including video and audio. The standardizer also provides the benefit of connection testing, which is essential for the development of new electrical devices.
Installation
Installing the standardizer is not difficult. You will need a coaxial cable cutter and stripper and a BNC compression tool. Cut the cable and strip about three-quarters of an inch off the end. Do the same for the other cable. Expose a quarter inch of center cable, one-quarter inch of the inner foil and one-quarter inch of braided wire. Fit the appropriate cable into the BNC connector and the RC standardizer. Fit the cable into the compression tool. Lower the handle to tighten the joint. Attach the free end of the standardizer to the free end of the BNC connector.
