GE Armor Clad Busway Instructions

A busway is a type of metal circuitry that provides power distribution for a variety of objects, such as computers and other small machines. The busway is made up of several smaller parts, including the busbar and housing. Most of the pieces inside a busway are coated with insulation to protect them against, heat and to prevent the unit from overheating. You can install your own insulating coating onto a busway if you use an epoxy insulation coating.

Instructions

    • 1

Screw the hooks onto the side of a counter below a cabinet or in another free-hanging area. The coated pieces will need to hang dry to prevent picking up dust and other contaminations.

    • 2

Pick up the end of the busway, or bus bar with the most holes, with pliers.

    • 3

Dip the busway piece into the epoxy insulation liquid.

    • 4

Hang the piece to dry, and pop any air bubbles with a toothpick. Allow the pieces to dry for 24 hours.

    • 5

Dip each piece into the liquid two more times for an insulating coating that is about one-eighth inch thick. Allow each layer to dry for 24 hours before adding the next or using the busway.
