How to Make Flash Paper With Alcohol

If you've ever seen a magician light a dollar bill on fire, then show you very same bill without any signs of scorching, chances are he's using something called flash paper. Magicians treat the dollar bill with a special solution. When you light it on fire, the only thing that burns is the solution. You can make your own flash paper with ingredients you probably have around the house.

Things You'll Need

• Rubbing alcohol
• Metal tongs
• Water

     Prepare a solution of 3 parts water and 7 parts rubbing alcohol. You will need enough liquid to submerge your piece of paper.

     Soak your paper in the rubbing alcohol solution for a few seconds.

     Remove the paper from the solution with metal tongs. Let the excess solution drip off the paper. Your flash paper is ready to burn.
