How to Fix a Vertical Snag in a Knit Sweater

Sweaters can be beautiful and elegant, but they are also prone to snagging. Whether you get the sweater stuck on a buckle, or your kitten hops on your lap and digs its nails into the wool, a snag is almost inevitable. Each snag can be fixed, however. Anyone who has a sewing needle and either nail varnish or super glue can quickly fix it.

Instructions

    • 1

Push the snag through the sweater so that it's directed inward. If you can't get the wool through, use a knitting needle to push. Turn the sweater inside out.

    • 2

Tie the snag into a knot. Make the knot thick enough so that it won't find its way back to the outer part of the sweater.

    • 3

Hold the knot so that it's directed away from the rest of the sweater by pinching it and pushing back the surrounding wool. Dab the knot with nail varnish or superglue to prevent it from unwinding. Be careful not to get the varnish or glue onto other parts of the sweater.
