Setting Up The Teepee
Scout out an area of level ground that is clear or can be cleared easily. Also make sure that the area you pick to camp on is raised, so that the ground will drain well if it rains.
Set the teepee up, allowing one hour for completion by two people. Set the three main poles of the teepee up in a tripod forming an isosceles triangle, and tie them together with rope and lift up into position.
Smooth the cover out on the ground outside facing up. Put the pole for lifting the cover on the middle of the cover and tie it in place. Roll the sides of the cover over to the pole, and move the pole into place with the other poles. Unroll the cover around the poles and secure them together making sure the cover is wrinkle free and snug. Set the stakes in the ground.
Position the ends of the poles in the flaps used to regulate smoke from the fire pit or stove.
Hang up the liner around the inside of the teepee. This too aids in smoke regulation and redirects moisture build up like rain or condensation.
Setting Up The Rest
Build a fire pit in the center of the teepee, or place a camping stove in the center.
Set up the lantern.
Place food and trash away from the site. Do the same when you dig a toilet, if you are not near a public facility.
