How to Build a Mini Adjustable Platform

Enhance your music listening experience at any computer desk or work desk by storing your speakers on a mini adjustable platform. Providing a place with an adjustable height will allow you to fine-tune your listening experience. Build your own mini adjustable platform using PVC pipe and plywood. PVC pipe is often used for various types of speaker stands, and it is easily modified with common woodworking tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Glue each end of each 10-inch pipe into the 3-way corner joints so you have a 12-by-12-inch square frame. The open end on each joint should be facing up when the frame lays flat. Glue a 1-by-8-inch pipe in each of these holes. Let the glue dry according to the instructions listed on the package. This is the frame for your mini adjustable platform.

    • 2

Slide a 1-1/4-by-8-inch pipe over each 1-by-8-inch pipe and drill seven 1/8-inch holes through each of the four pairs of pipes so they're spaced 1 inch apart. Insert a 1-1/2-inch metal pin through each pair of pipes. These are the adjustable legs for your mini adjustable platform.

    • 3

Turn your platform upright and set the 12-by-12-inch plywood on top of the PVC so the edges are flush. Drill eight 1/8-inch holes through the plywood so two holes go through each pipe. The holes should be spaced 6 inches apart. Bolt the plywood to the PVC pipe using the 1/8-inch bolts and your wrench.

    • 4

Adjust your platform by removing the pins from the legs and extending the legs. Re-insert the pins when you have found your desired height.
