How to Make a Linen Cord Tube Bracelet

Using wax linen to make your linen cord tube bracelet will help improve the rigidity of your knots and the flexibility of the linen when you secure it to a clasp. The bracelet requires many knots, but the finished product makes the extra work worthwhile. The detailed work involved in making this bracelet also makes it visually pleasing. Beaded jewelry allows you to get creative with the various ways you pattern the jewelry.

Things You'll Need

  • Seed beads, 100 of the 3 mm

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the lace into three sections. Make one 1.5 feet, and the remaining two 3 feet long. Make a knot with all three pieces about 3 inches from the top.

    • 2

Separate each strand and make sure the shortest is in the middle. Tape to the table the end of the threads, above where you tied the knot.

    • 3

Make a "cobra knot" by making an "S" shape with the left outer lace over the middle strand. Go over the "S-" shape strand with the strand on the right side. Push the thread through the bottom curve of the "S," pull it under the center lace and then through the upper part of the "S" strand. Pull it all the way through.

    • 4

Pull the left and right strands to tighten the knot to the top. Repeat the process by making a backwards "S" with the right side stand.

    • 5

Thread a bead through the center strand to the top. Make the same cobra knot that you did in Step 3 on both sides. Repeat this step until the bracelet is to the desired length.

    • 6

Tie the three strands into a knot at the loose end of the bracelet. Tie the middle strand with the right side strand into about 15 to 20 basic knots that stack onto each other. The knotted area should fit around the clasp.

    • 7

Make a loop with the knotted area. Knot the loose ends twice around the base of the knotted area to create a knotted circle. Cut the excess lace off.

    • 8

Peel off the tape. Collect the three strands. Thread the clasp through the three strands. Knot the end three times. Trim the excess strands.
