What Is Involved With Framing Puzzles?

A puzzle can make the perfect wall ornament for your home, and your guests may never know it is a puzzle. This is because puzzle glue can hide the cracks that appear on the image. The next time you want a perfect picture to hang on your wall, and you see an ideal puzzle that would look perfect, complete it and hang it on your wall.
  1. Puzzle

    • When you assemble the puzzle for framing, complete it on the piece of cardboard that comes with the frame, or you finish it on a table and transfer it to the cardboard later. Keep all the pieces in one place when you assemble the puzzle, so you don't lose any.

    The Frame

    • Depending on the type of frame you purchase, you may need to assemble it before placing the finished puzzle. Many frames come with snap-on pieces, while others need to be screwed together with a screwdriver. Other frames are already complete, with the glass, wooden frame, cardboard and wood back in one piece. With these, you simply need to move the hooks in the back, then pull the back out to fit the puzzle inside.

    Size

    • Before assembling the puzzle with the frame, check the measurements of both, to ensure a snug fit. An exact fit is hard to find, but it is necessary for the best aesthetics. Both the puzzle and the frame come with measurements, usually located on the front of the box in which they are sold. When assembling the puzzle, complete the border first, measuring it and check that the height and width match that of the frame.

    Assembling the Picture

    • When you complete the puzzle on the frame's cardboard, simply put the frame and glass upside down on top of it, and flip the cardboard and frame. The back can be placed on top, and the hooks lock the puzzle into position. Otherwise, you must first slide the piece of cardboard under the puzzle before completing the task. Prior to assembly, puzzle glue is sometimes applied to the front of the puzzle to hide the cracks.
