Things You'll Need
Instructions
Remove the cable from the cable roller to expose the damaged portion.
Clean the broken metal on the cable roller with the wire wheel to ensure the finished weld will be stronger than the existing metal.
Reposition the broken pieces so they are in their original positions. This is so that when they are welded, the roller will function just as it did when it was new. Make two small welds at the beginning and end of the crack. These two welds will hold the cable roller together to complete the final weld. Knock off the slag with your hammer and clean the welds with your wire wheel. These two welds are referred to as ̶0;tack-welds."
Fill in the gap with your final weld. If you run out of welding rod in this process and you need another rod, you will need to knock off the slag and clean the weld again with your wire wheel.
