How to Make a Glass Floating Frame Canvas

Your artwork, favorite pictures or your child's treasured accomplishments can be displayed in style with a homemade glass floating frame. Glass frames create a simple, polished look, with the focus on the artwork or treasure instead of the frame. This task requires a little preparation and a few special supplies.

Things You'll Need

Small, thin canvas painting
2 pieces of glass cut to fit at least 1 inch larger than canvas
2 to 4 oversized binder clips
Bailing wire (optional)
Wire snips (optional)

Instructions

  Lay one piece of glass on a clean, flat working surface.

  Place your canvas on the glass and center it.

  Lay your top piece of glass over the canvas and take a moment to ensure that all sides are flush with the canvas in the desired position.

  Fasten the sides with binder clips. If you're not hanging the frames, these clips don't have to be centered. Play with them until you achieve the look you want.

  If hanging, use at least two binder clips and center on either side of the glass. Cut bailing wire to desired length and then secure each side to the holes on the binder clips.
