DIY Live Plant Fertilizers for an Aquarium

In aquariums with little in the way of nutrients cycling through the water, or those with slow-growing plants, fertilizers both provide the nutrients to expedite plant growth and maintain health. Some of the materials for plant fertilizers naturally occur in an aquarium with plants, while others should be purchased. You can purchase premade fertilizer or combine chemicals to make the fertilizer. These chemicals, like potassium nitrate, can be purchased at a local hydroponic, hardware, or drug store or ordered online. Live fertilizers are called biological fertilizers. These aid the growth process of your plants and maximize the health of the organisms in your aquarium.
