Making Flash Paper Disappear

Flash paper is used in magic tricks and illusions for magic stage shows and productions. Flash paper or nitrocellulose, as it is properly referred to, is mostly used for its ability to burn quickly and "disappear." The paper seems to disappear because there are no ash traces left behind after the paper is readily consumed by a flame. If you have flash paper on hand and you have an upcoming party or house guests to entertain, you can make your own impressive illusion of a disappearing paper.

Things You'll Need

• Nitrocellulose flash paper
• Grill lighter

Instructions

     Grip the upper left corner of the flash paper between your index finger and thumb on your left hand.

   • 2

     Depress the trigger on the grill lighter with your right index finger.

   • 3

     Hold the flame against the bottom right corner of the flash paper and simultaneously release the trigger on the lighter.

   • 4

     Drop the paper immediately and it will disintegrate and "disappear" before your eyes.
