How to Repair a Coinco Validator

You are likely to find a Coinco BillPro Series bill acceptor attached to a machine from which you can purchase goods without dealing directly with a person. Such automation is not necessarily simple, and aspects of the process can go wrong. Coinco's user manual states that their repair advice is for "route operators and shop-level technicians," but if you have a degree of prior knowledge, you may be able to fix whatever is afflicting your unit.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe any dust from around the intermediate frame and stacker plate using a soft cloth in order to fix any issues that could be caused by debris gathering in the mechanisms.

    • 2

Inspect the wiring within the unit, paying particular attention to signs of frayed wiring or wires that are not connected. Replace any damaged wires and secure any wires that require reconnection.

    • 3

Ensure that the stacker plate is in the correct position. To do this, remove power from the bill acceptor and remove the bill acceptor from the vending machine. Open the bill-box lid and verify that the stacker plate is in the "standby"/"home" position. If it is not, apply power and make sure that the stacker plate returns home.

    • 4

Send the unit back to Coinco for professional service if the unit flashes three times. This can be ascertained by reading the number of flashes or blinks of light from the LED at the bottom of the BillPro bill acceptor.
