How to Remove Fiberglass From a Loctite AR Forearm

The only way to remove the fiberglass from an AR forearm hand guard is to remove the entire forearm and replace it with another model. Typically, the forearms are held in place with Loctite glue or another adhesive, which must also be removed to remove the forearm from the gun. Removing the forearm is not difficult, and after you remove it you can then replace it with a non-fiberglass forearm that is more durable and fits in better with your design needs and shooting style.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the safety is set to the ̶0;on̶1; setting on the gun and that the chamber and barrel of the gun is free of bullets before working on the gun. Wear safety goggles to protect yourself from flying parts.

    • 2

Remove any bolts holding the hand guard in place, if possible, using a screwdriver. If you cannot remove the screws because of Loctite, spray the screws with Loctite spray remover. Allow the remover to sit for about 10 minutes.

    • 3

Remove the screws from the hand guard with a screwdriver. Use a small chisel to remove any remaining Loctite from the bolts or screw holes.

    • 4

Fit the open end of the removal tool at the base of the forearm near the Delta ring where the forearm connects to the stock of the gun. Fit the metal lip inside the mag well hole along the base of the stock.

    • 5

Squeeze the two sides of the removal tool and lower your hand slightly. This will loosen the two sides of the hand guards, which you can then easily remove.
