Making Paper Airplanes to Demonstrate Motion

Paper airplanes can be used to demonstrate principles of physics. These flying objects display motion, friction, gravity and aerodynamics. Making a paper airplane can be completed with any standard 8 1/2-by-11-inch piece of paper. Create these objects at work, school or anywhere else.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the paper 2 inches from the corner on one long end of the piece of paper. Do this on both corners. Mark the shorter side of the piece of paper 1/2 inch from both edges.

    • 2

Fold the paper lengthwise along these markings. This requires two folds.

    • 3

Fold the paper down evenly 1/2 inch on the narrow end of the paper. Repeat this eight times.

    • 4

Flip the airplane onto the other side. Flip the airplane in half. Fold the wings evenly 1 inch away from the middle crease. Make the folds evenly to successfully construct your paper airplane.
