How to Save a GU10 LED

GU10 LED light bulbs have a lifespan of 50,000 hours. So, is it not uncommon for an LED bulb to outlive the component that powers it. If you need to repair the electronics to which the GU10 LED light attaches, you can simply remove the bulb to save it. This saves the cost of replacing the bulb. By saving the bulb, you can install it into the replacement component.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on a glove to protect the LED bulb from oils that could shorten its life.

    • 2

Grip the top edge of the bulb with your fingers.

    • 3

Rotate the bulb a quarter-turn counterclockwise and pull the bulb out of the socket. The bulb has tow pints protruding from the bottom that attach to the socket. When you turn the bulb, it loosens the pins from the socket.

    • 4

Place the bulb in a plastic bag to protect it from oils until you are ready to reinstall it.
