Things You'll Need
Instructions
Strip a 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of the two wires attached to the battery snap, and from the ends of the wires attached to the LEDs with a wire stripper.
Wind the ends of the red wires attached to the red, green and blue LEDs around the end of the red wire attached to the battery snap. Wind the ends of the black wires attached to the red, green and blue LEDs around the end of the black wire attached to the battery snap. Wrap a strip of electrical tape around the twisted pairs of red wires and another strip of electrical tape around the twisted pairs of black wires.
Place the translucent silicone ball on a work surface. Drill a hole halfway through the ball from the top with a power drill. Gouge out a hole in the ball with the tip of a flat-edged screwdriver. Continue gouging out the hole until it is wide enough for a 9v battery to be inserted into. Remove loose silicone from inside the hole using a utility knife. Turn the ball over and shake out loose silicone. Turn the ball over.
Apply bonding glue to the bottom of a 9v battery. Insert the battery, glued end down, into the hole in the ball. Push the battery all the way into the hole and against the interior of the ball. Hold the battery against the interior of the ball for a minute. Let the glue set overnight.
Insert the battery clip into the hole in the ball, followed by the three LEDs and the wiring. Push the battery snaps contacts onto the matching contacts on the battery. Apply a thin covering of silicone sealant over the hole in the ball. Let the sealant set for an hour. Apply another coating of the sealant over the hole.
Turn off the lights in a room where you are standing. Bounce the ball against the floor to see the colored LEDs spin and leave a trail of red, green and blue momentarily in the air.
