Things You'll Need
Instructions
Gather as many branches and sticks as you can. In the case of a wilderness survival situation, gather anything else you can that resembles branches, including sticks and brush. The more material you gather, the bigger your trap can be.
Arrange the branches into a bundle by bending and molding them to the best of your ability. You can aim for a longer, more rectangular bundle or a circular bundle depending on your personal preference or whatever seems easiest.
Use string or fish line to wrap around and tie your bundle together. This step may not be applicable if you are in a survival situation. However, if you do find yourself in the wilderness, consider looking for vines as a method of tying your bundle together tightly.
Make sure there is one hole in your bundle big enough for fish to swim through. The rest of the bundle should be as taut as possible.
Place your trap in the water. Fill your trap with a few heavy stones to weigh it down by placing the stones through the same hole your provided for the fish to enter. If placing a trap in saltwater, be sure to do so in an area without waves or a strong current. If placing the trap in an area with a slight current, such as a stream, take strong precaution in weighing it down to the best of your ability, as it may be taken away with the current.
