Mounting a Chandelier to a PVC Pipe for a Floor Lamp

Transform a ceiling-mounted chandelier into a floor lamp using PVC pipe. PVC pipe is a polyvinyl coated plastic that comes in many different sizes and colors. It is used mainly for plumbing applications, but because there are so many different kinds of joints and connectors available, these materials can be used for a variety of different projects. Build your own PVC pipe stand to turn a chandelier into a floor lamp in less than an hour spent in a garage or workshop.

Instructions

    • 1

Glue the 72-inch pipe into one of the openings on the corner joint so the last 4 open holes on the joint are at a right angle to the pipe.

    • 2

Glue the elbow joint on to the other end of the 72-inch pipe so its opening faces the same direction as one of the openings on the 5-way joint at the other end.

    • 3

Glue a 14-inch pipe into each of the openings on the 5-way joint and glue the 12-inch pipe into an elbow joint. Glue an end cap on the open end of each 14-inch pipe and the 12-inch pipe.

    • 4

Drill a 1/8-inch hole through the 12-inch pipe, 8 inches away from the elbow joint so the hole is parallel with the 72-inch pipe.

    • 5

Insert the eye bolt through the 1/8-inch hole so the eye portion hangs toward the floor. Screw the nut on the other end and hang your chandelier from the eye bolt.
